The QLD Globe provides an online interactive experience to view Queensland’s location based information and technology.

This product uses Arc GIS mapping software to inform its data, as well as allowing the user to upload their own data source. QLD Globe services a wide variety of users, including geological, spatial and mining scientists and surveyors.

I worked with a team of software engineers, configurators and geographic sector stakeholders to improve previous features and build new features for Versions 1 - 2.6.
We (Khemistry) were involved in this project for each full product life cycle and my responsibilities have included stakeholder workshops, discovery research, UX design, UI design, user-testing, quality assurance and closely working with the development team during implementation.

This task included creating all new mapping patterns and design systems to correspond with each ‘view’ of map, creating new naming conventions across the entire product and UI solutions for all new functionality that the 3D and 360 views facilitated.
We also created an easy to use toggle to flick between the viewing modes.

From 2018 - 2019 we migrated the functionality of ‘MinesOnline Maps’ into the QLD Globe. Previously the QLD Globe was a tool for land sector stakeholders, however with the new software migrated, it became a tool for mining sector stakeholders as well.

In this project we facilitated a series of focus groups to discover what parts of functionality were used regularly, irregularly and what could be left behind. We then worked with a team of mining specialists to create new and adapt current functionality to suit the QLD Globe patterns. We also conducted training sessions for the newly migrated product.
